Built into a hill right by the nicest beach in Florianopolis – Praia Mole, Backpackers Sunset is one of the most beautiful and impressive hostels I’ve come across. After our chilled out stay in Barra de Lagoa, this party hostel gave us a completely different experience of Floripa. Immediately hit by a mind blowing view over Lagoa da Conceição from the bar cum viewing platform as you walk in, it’s hard not to be seduced by this hostel within the first few seconds of passing through it’s door. We found it by accident after being given a tip off on the whereabouts of our Scottish friend from Ilha Grande Lev. Levon and Backpackers Sunset seemed a match made in heaven – or hell more likely – and we were treated to traditional Edinburgh greeting on arrival, Jaeger bombs all round! The friendly party atmosphere and beautiful surroundings were too much to resist and we moved over the next day.
The hostel serves free Caiparinha’s at sunset, which sets the mood and is a good indication of what you can expect here. Great breakfasts, a swimming pool, amazing beds in huge comfortable dorms make this a fantastic, if a little expensive, place to loose a few days partying in this hedonistic Brazilian paradise. We ended up staying for about a week and could easily have stayed longer. If you want to party in beautiful surroundings, this is the place for you.
